AHISS Excursions


Ideally situated to explore some of Scotland’s top cultural and historical attractions, students visit cities, museums, castles, shops and more!

Each week, there are two full day excursions (Saturday and Sunday) and one half day excursion (Wednesday). Explore some of our excursion destinations below.

Edinburgh

During a visit to Scotland’s historic capital our students have the chance to wander through the beautiful medieval streets. Activities include admiring the beauty of the Edinburgh Castle, shopping for souvenirs on the busy and vibrant Royal Mile and soaking up the culture and history of Scotland at the National Museum of Scotland.

Glasgow

A visit to Glasgow, promises an exciting and vibrant day. Students will have the chance to learn about Scotland’s natural history and culture at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. At the Glasgow Science Centre students can interact with the exhibits and see the starry skies in the Planetarium. The award-winning Riverside Museum provides an interesting insight into the history of transport. Students can get their shopping fix at the huge Braehead Shopping Centre.

Loch Lomond and Luss

‘On yon bonnie banks and on yon bonnie braes’. Loch Lomond, Scotland’s most famous loch is a stunning place to visit. On our excursion we will take in the breath-taking views of the surrounding rolling hills right on the water and shopping for essential Scottish souvenirs at Loch Lomond Shores – a collection of shops right on the water’s edge.

Stirling

Stirling, Scotland’s Ancient Capital just oozes history, if you have seen the Scottish movie Braveheart then you will love a visit to the stunning Wallace Monument where you can view the William Wallace’s ancient claymore (sword) and admire the views over the beautiful Scottish countryside.

Inverary

Inverary is a quintessential Scottish fishing town. Situated on the coast, it enjoys beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and charms visitors year round. Students have the opportunity to learn about the how prisoners were treated in the past at the interactive Inverary Jail, and explore the town’s vintage sweet shop!

west of scotland

West Coast of Scotland Tour

On the West Coast of Scotland Tour, we explore both magnificent and quaint sites including the beautiful fishing town of Oban where you can sample traditional Fish and Chips. Other highlights include the medieval site of ancient Scottish Kings – Kilmartin, the stunning shores of Loch Lomond, and rugged beauty of Loch Awe and the traditional town of Lochgilphead, all whilst travelling through the glorious Scottish highlands.
